Thanks for checking us out here at The Branch Church at Los Alamitos! We would love for you to join our growing family on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. at 4000 Green Ave, Los Alamitos (on the campus of First Baptist Los Alamitos).
If it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church, The Branch Church has you in mind! There’s already enough you have to think about when you’re visiting a church for the first time. We hope that getting some of this “stuff” out of the way not only encourages you to join us for church, but also helps you to connect with the hope and encouragement that God has for you.
What should I expect?
The Branch Church is a multi-generational family church, which means we hope you feel like you’ve come to a family reunion. All ages and stages will come together to worship through singing. After that, we have children’s programming (check it out here) up to eighth grade. Besides that, these are the elements you can expect each morning we gather.
Music
One of the primary ways we worship God is by singing songs that proclaim how wonderful He is, and what He has done for us through His Son, Jesus.
Giving
Giving is part of the way that we worship God. The Bible tells us that everything that we have comes from God. It’s all His, and we are simply caretakers of it. We show our gratitude by giving cheerfully, regularly, and sacrificially. Our gifts are an act of worship, but they also help fund the ministry of sharing the gospel at our church, in our city, and with our ministry partners around the world. There’s never any pressure to give, but if God is leading you to do so, you’re welcome to give online here.
Preaching
Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). We faithfully and passionately preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And while that may mean you’ll gain practical wisdom you can use in your daily lives, families, and work places, the goal is a saving and growing relationship with Jesus. Without Jesus, we have nothing. In Him, we have everything we need!
Communion
The night before Jesus went to the cross, he instituted what has come to be called the Lord’s Supper, or Communion. It’s an opportunity to remember that Jesus loved us enough to sacrificially give his life in our place. Because of this, he offers eternal life to those who receive this gift. Those who have received it are asked to celebrate communion remembering this amazing gift that’s been given to us. If you have not yet received this gift of salvation, we ask you to please abstain from receiving communion. But, if you would like to make this decision today to receive this gift you can pray a simple prayer – if it is truly the cry of your heart – and begin a relationship with God today.
“Dear God, I’ve tried to live life in my own power. I’ve trusted in other things instead of you. I now recognize this is sin that separates me from you. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay for that sin, so that I can have a relationship with you. Today, I decide to turn from everything I have been putting my trust in, and instead put my trust in you.”
Prayer
One of the ways we can respond to God is through prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God. Sometimes we need to pray quietly by ourselves. At other times we need to allow others to carry our burdens with us and stand in prayer with us. Near the end of today’s service, you will have an opportunity to reflect quietly in prayer, or to seek out a prayer counselor with whom to pray. Also, at any point during a Sunday service, you can write your prayer requests down and there will be a team of people who will be praying for you. You can also share your request online here.
Family First Sundays
The first Sunday of each month we have what we call “Family Service.” This means that our 4th-8th graders stay in the worship service with us the entire time (they also stay in on the 5th Sundays throughout the year). K-3rd graders have the option of staying in or going to their classroom.
